Using Orange Wallet with Ledger
Please note that Ledger support for Orange Wallet is only available using a desktop device and the Orange Wallet browser extension on the Google Chrome browser at this time.
What is Ledger support?
Ledger is a hardware wallet—a physical device that stores your private keys offline. When you connect it to the Orange Wallet, you can securely manage Bitcoin, Ordinals, BRC-20 tokens, and more, while keeping your keys completely offline.
Why it Matters:
Enhanced security: Your private keys stay safely on your Ledger. Transactions require manual approval from you—nothing moves without your consent.
Seamless experience: With Ledger support built into the Orange Wallet, you can manage all your assets in one place, without sacrificing security.
Complete control: Both the Orange Wallet and Ledger are non-custodial. You—and only you—hold the keys to your assets.
How to Use Your Ledger with the Orange Wallet
Step 1: Set Up Your Ledger Device
Initialize Your Ledger: Follow the official Ledger setup guide to initialize your device, set a PIN, and generate your 24-word recovery phrase.
Install Necessary Apps: Using Ledger Live, install the Bitcoin app on your Ledger device.
Regularly Update Firmware: Keep your Ledger device’s firmware up to date to ensure the latest security features.
Step 2: Connect Ledger to the Orange Wallet
Open the Orange Wallet: Launch the Orange Wallet extension on your desktop.
Navigate to Ledger Wallet Setup: Tap your wallet address (top left address)
Connect Your Ledger: Use a USB cable to connect your Ledger device to your computer. On Add Address screen in the Orange Wallet, tap the 'Connect Ledger' button.

Confirm Your Ledger Bitcoin Wallet Addresses: Orange Wallet will prompt you to verify the newly generated Bitcoin wallet addresses on your Ledger device. Ensure the addresses displayed in your Orange Wallet match those shown on your Ledger device’s screen, and then confirm directly on your device.
Successful Connection: Orange Wallet will display a confirmation once the setup is successfully completed.
Personalize Your Ledger Hardware Connection: Easily identify your Ledger hardware device in the 'Add Addresses' screen by customizing its name. Simply enter your preferred connection name and tap the 'Confirm' button.
View Your Ledger Hardware Wallet Addresses: On the Orange Wallet home screen, tap your wallet address (top-left corner) to see the newly connected Ledger wallet addresses in the Add Address screen.
Step 3: Manage Your Assets with Ledger
Once your Ledger is connected to the Orange Wallet, an address is automatically generated for you. This address is securely tied to your Ledger, allowing you to safely send and receive Bitcoin, Ordinals, and BRC-20 tokens.
Receiving Assets: Use your Ledger-connected address in Orange to receive supported assets. Just copy the address and share it where needed—any funds sent to it are stored securely, with your private keys safely offline on your Ledger device.
Sending Assets: To send assets, simply start a transaction in the Orange Wallet. You’ll review the transaction details on your screen, then approve it directly on your Ledger device. Nothing goes out without your confirmation, giving you full control and added peace of mind.
Important: Don’t Use Ledger Live and the Orange Wallet on the Same Device
If you use both the Orange Wallet and Ledger Live on the same Ledger device, there’s a risk—especially if you’re holding Ordinals or BRC-20 tokens.
Why?
Ledger Live doesn’t support Ordinals or BRC-20s. It treats them like regular Bitcoin, which could result in you unintentionally spending them.
Best Practice:
Use one Ledger device exclusively with the Orange Wallet. If you’re familiar with advanced wallet features, you can create a separate Ledger account using a passphrase to isolate Orange activity from Ledger Live.
Key Takeaways
Use the Orange Wallet with Ledger to store and manage Bitcoin, Ordinals, and BRC-20 tokens in cold storage.
The Orange Wallet supports these assets; Ledger Live does not.
Avoid using both apps on the same Ledger device unless you’re managing separate accounts.
